STEP BY STEP POOL CARE
Pool sanitising can be carried out by 3 methods
Chlorine, the classic pool treatment which not only kills germs but also eliminates organic impurities by oxidation. It is highly effective, reliable at high temperatures and high levels of contamination. The Bayrol range is calcium free, pH neutral, can be used in any water hardness area. They dissolve without reside nor leaving deposits and don't clog filters. Disadvantages can be odour, some may be sensitive to the chemical, high levels shortens life and appearance of some swimwear.
Active Oxygen is the gentle alternative to chlorine based on a combination of 2 components one which disinfects and oxidises existing contaminants, the second preventing algae growth, claifying water and activating the disinfection. Advantages are noticeably pleasant water quality, odourless, no skin or eye irritation, dry skin or brittle hair.
Bromine, like chlorine, bromine is also a halogen and highly suitable for disinfecting pool water killing bacteria, viruses and fungi, eliminating organic impurities by means of oxidation. As effective as chlorine without the odour with a higher pH tolerance and dissolves very slowly therefore particularly suitable for spas and hot tubs working well at higher temperatures.

CHEMICALS SHOULD BE STORED IN ORIGINAL PACKAGING CLOSED, AWAY FROM DIRECT SUNLIGHT. DOSING SHOULD ONLY BE CARRIED OUT BY RESPONSIBLE ADULTS.
Some chemicals require being predissolved before adding to a pool or spa to aid effectiveness.
Start up disinfection/problem shock
Even water straight from the tap should be treated with a chemical shock treatment to prepare the water.
Chloryte Plus is available in 1kg or 5 kg quantities and consists of fast dissolving dust free unstabilised granules with a high active chlorine content as well as a clarifyer. Particularly suitable for quickly raising the chlorine level and for shock treating pools with algae. Also contains a hardness stabiliser to prevent calcium precipitations.
Chlorifix Shock 2.4 kg is similar to Chloryte Plus but is packaged premeasured in 6 pairs of 200g sachets for ease of dosing plus has the added advantage of being fast acting thus allowing swimming to be resumed within 15 minutes of treatment, ideal for those with a pool party then discovering the pool needs treatment.
TESTING
The secret of good water quality is knowing the quantity/levels of treatments you are adding or are building up in the water.
Two main methods are used; pool test kits with tablets testing for pH and your chosen sanitiser or pool test strips using colour match scales for water constituents.
Pool kits are available for pH/chlorine, pH/Bromine, and pH/active oxygen. Refill tablets are available in 2 x 30's or packs of 100. Simply fill the test chambers with pool or spa water, add the appropriate tablet to each section, close, shake and read colour variation.
Test strips come in pack of 50, the Quick test strips test for chlorine, pH, algaecide and total
alkalinity. Dip into water, hold horizontal for 15 seconds then compare the coloured readings to the package.
We also stock test strips for bromine spas and 3 way strips for chlorine, pH, and total alkalinity.

BALANCING
pH Balance
An ideal pH is between 7.0 and 7.4, lower and metal corrosion can occur, eye and skin irritation, attacks on mortar or concrete finishes, too high and deterioration in flocculation and efficiency of disinfectant and formation of calcium deposits.
pH Minus
Bayrol pH Minus in sachet form 2kg pack, lowers pH
also available in 1.5 kg container of granules under Sunspot brand suitable for all pool filtration systems.
Sachets are a Cleaner way to dose larger pools.
pH Plus
Bayrol pH Plus to raise pH in sachets 1.5 kg pack also available as granules in a 1 kg container under Sunspot range.

Chlorifix in granule or tablet form 1kg or 5kg suitable for all filtration systems. Dissolve granules to
dose or add tablets to skimmer baskets or floating dosers.
CHLORIFIX 5 FUNCTIONS
Chlorifix 5 function tablets 1kg or 5 kg. A stabilised slowly dissolving tablet with high
chlorine content also containing a clarifier, hardenss stabiliser and algaecide. Suitable for
all filtration using in skimmer or floating doser.
MINILONG
Minilong tablets 1 kg tub or 5 kg bucket. Stabilised slowly dissolving 20g tablets high active chlorine content, suitable for all filtration systems particularly suitable for continuous disinfection of smaller size pools.
COMPLETE
Complete sachets. Suitable for all filtration and uses less chlorine as uses a special
oxidation enhancer based on active oxygen, prevents algae growth and also clarifies.
VARITAB
VariTab combined filter shock and sanitiser tablets for sand filters. Phase one blue section cleans and disinfects the sand at the same time a shock treatment removes cloudiness from the pool. The white section is a slow dissolving chlorine treatment with
added flocculant. Place in skimmer.
MULTILONG
Multilong cassette tablets for sand filters. Placed in the skimmer Multilong contains shock and long term disinfection, algae prevention, flocculant and filter cleaner plus a hardness stabiliser.
Bromine Based
AQUABROME
Aquabrome tablets 5kg slowly dissolving for effective yet gentle disinfection benefits include no chlorine odour, pleasant to the skin and eyes, an extended pH tolerance ensures efficient disinfection even at higher pH levels. All filtration methods, use in floating doser.
Active Oxygen for Pools
Advantage of being odour free, gentle to skin and hair and no eye irritation
SOFT & EASY
Soft and Easy sachets suitable for all filtration provides treatment based on active oxygen in concentrated granular form. The combination of active ingredients for disinfection, algae prevention and clarifier ensures hygenic and sparkling water. PH neutrasl and contains additional substances for pH buffering. Dose directly into pool.
Algaecide
All algae produces organic substances which are an ideal nutrient for bacteria and fungi. Sunshine and heat support algae growth, slippery deposits can cause accidents.
DESALGINE
Desalgine 1L or 3L Liquid highly effective agsainst all algae types, low foaming and works alongside all disinfectants. Also
includes a clarifier, is pH neutral suitable for all pools. Triple concentrated use regularly.
Flocculant
Cloudiness in pools can result from fine particles that cannot be effectively removed by filtration systems. A flocculant will clump together non-filterable dust, metal ions and phosphates enabling the filters to capture them effectively. Improving water quality it also reduces the consumption of disinfection as impurities are filtered out rather than being oxidised.

1 Ltr bottle, by adding to skimmer a layer of flakes are created on the filter sand surface preventing cloudy impurities from being recirculated. Sand filters only.
